The View Outside...

I have always wanted to be on the ouside looking in to things, to be totally objective about things. But these years have taught me otherwise. Sometimes, being on the inside of things have gotten too much of me, as though I am involved in everything that happens around me and I take things too personally. It's time for me to start looking at the view outside again...

Bush won the US election for another 4 years in the White House. He is pro-war but pro-trade too. I don't disagree on his war on terror but is terror really his aim or a religion. To me that does not really matter as we are still very dependant on the US for growth and as along as things are stable enough for me to study in Singapore and work enough money to get outta here, that's okay for me. But the FTA is causing Singapore to make far too much concessions, in my opinion. We are reversing policies but with very "justified" reasons (anything that comes from the parliment are justified in Singapore, no one bothers too much with one party controlling the nation). The new Copyright Bill, Broadcast bill are going to greatly affect many Singaporeans, especially our standard of living, doesn't the government realise that the gap is growing bigger?

More CCTV will be installed throughout Singapore. Soon, I guess, all locks will be replaced by IRIS scanners or fingerprint access. All in the name of seurity? How about in thr future, everyone would be having a chip implanted into their body, so every movement is tracked and access is strictly restricted. Security? Absolutely! Night spots would be out of reach for under-18s, cinemas need not have people checking ICs, immigration can be automatic with no officers needed except to make arrests, etc etc. How perfect Singapore will be. So perfect that your every action will be watched. Every word you say will be recorded. Everything you do will be approved by the government.

I guess that too much ramblings already... Blogger has allowed retro-blogging so I have compiled all 2002 entries into the blog as well. Boring nowadays, I have re-done the 4M and LBSA websites. Do visit them if someone ever reads this blog. But this is my outlet and after all these rantings, the view outside tonight seems very peacful for my unit is going on block leave and no one will be bothering me on the phone everyday for the next 2 weeks or so...

In the dead of the night

There remains a dedicated group of people working to keep Singapore going on the next working day. And of course, me who is still wide awake, having acustomed to sleeping really late ever since I got my long term MC.

Why?Had cellulitis on my thigh (read: a pimple that swelled to really humongous size and had to cut it out...) and so I was admitted to NUH on 14 Oct and has the operation the next day and since being discharged on the third day, I have been on MC, extended till 09 Dec 04 now...a really unexpected turn of events, serious, this wasn't planned for. If it was, I won't do it so early...haha..but I am glad to get a good rest.

Doing nothing is the best enjoyment of all, truly.Later today,I will be returning back to camp to endorse my MC and to settle some outstanding issues with my stand-in..since I left so aruptly and the old guy says that things are in a mess and he wants me to go back..oh well...
